Hello and welcome to 2nd Grade!  I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.  I was born and raised in Northern California.  After I graduated from High School, I moved to Fresno to attend Fresno State University.  While working at a sporting goods store, I met my (future) husband.  I graduated from Fresno State with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1997. A year later I was married.  Within our first five years of marriage we moved 4 times.  During that time, I went back to school to earn my teaching credential through Chapman University.  Once completed, we finally settled down into our first home in Livermore, Ca.  I was offered my first teaching job teaching 2nd grade in Dublin, Ca.  After being married for 5 years, we had our first child, Grant, who is now 4 years old.  A year after he was born, my husband was offered a job with Raytheon, which is what brought us to Southern California the summer of 2004.

At that time, I was offered a job here at Richmond Street teaching 5th grade.  I was a little hesitant moving from 2nd graders to 5th graders but had heard so many wonderful things about ESUSD that I couldn't pass up the opportunity.  After teaching 5th grade for a year, I was fortunate to be able to move back to 2nd grade, which is what I LOVE to teach and am now entering my 8th year of teaching.

In August 2005, I decided to take part in a Master's Program.  I was eager to further my education, yet it was a challenge working full time, having a toddler, and being pregnant with my second child.

In February 2006, my second son was born; Blake Miller.  It took a lot of dedication and time management to continue my master's program, work full time, and raise two kids...but with the support of my family and friends, I completed the master's program in October 2006.

During my free time, which isn't too often, I play on two soccer teams, which is something I have done since I was a child.  It is my way to have some time to myself , have fun, and TRY to keep in shape.  I also enjoy going to the beach, having "date night" with my husband, and exploring new things with my own children.

While growing up, I kept a journal from grades 1-6 and recorded every year what I wanted to be when I grew up.  Every year I said the same thing...a teacher and a mother.  So...I guess at this point in my life, I have fulfilled both dreams!
